2011 Reindeer Food

As is our annual tradition, Bree and I made reindeer food to scatter on the lawn on Christmas Eve for Santa's reindeer to eat while he delivers our presents.  This year's food featured Bree's freshly harvested corn from the field behind our house.  As we were making it, thinking of what we might want to include for our reindeer friends' snacks, Bree suggested that we Google it and see what other people have done.

I found this little poem during the Google search:
Sprinkle on the lawn at night
The moon will make it sparkle bright
As Santa's reindeer fly and roam
This will guide them to your home.
So, yeah, that's pretty much the idea of the thing. Here's this year's ingredient list:

  • Freshly harvested corn
  • Oats
  • Chopped carrots
  • Crushed candy cane
  • White sugar
  • Brown sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • Heart sprinkles
  • Peanuts
  • Sliced fruit-flavored "Funmallows"
Mix the ingredients in a zip-lock baggie and shake it for all it's worth. :)
